Education

  • I had my primary education in SMAN I (Senior High School) Pamekasan in 1984. I love painting and music very much, especially during my senior high school.
  • December, 1991 graduated from Plant Breeding Program Study, University of Padjadjaran Bandung, Indonesia with an Engineer degree. I passed with a “very satisfactory passing” honour.

My official thesis was “The General Combining Ability of Thirty S4 Maize (Zea mays L) Inbred Lines and Phenotypic Performance of Their Top Cross Hybrids”.

  • April 1998 – April 1999 I made my way to study in Japan as a Research Student at Crop Science Laboratory, Kyushu University, Fukuoka – Japan.
  • March, 2001 graduated with Master of Science degree (M.Sc.) from Crop Science Laboratory, Kyushu University, Fukuoka – Japan.

My official master thesis was “Breeding of Tolerant Sorghum to Aluminum – Development of Screening Method and Performance in Al – Stressed Tissue Culture and Field”

  • March, 2004 graduated with Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree from United Graduate School of Agricultural Science, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology – Utsunomiya University, Japan, majoring in Crop Science/ Plant Breeding.

My official dissertation was “Studies on Genetic Diversity, Development of Al-tolerance Selection Method and Effectiveness of Al-tolerance Breeding Program in Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench)”. Dissertation.

Award:

  • 1998 – 1999, Mombusho scholarship for research student at Kyushu University-Japan.
  • April 1999,The best poster show in Conference of Crop Science Society of Japan, Fukuyama International Hall, Fukuyama – Japan.
  • 1999 – 2001, Mombusho scholarship for M.Sc. study at Kyushu University-Japan.
